1997 Cambodia surfs the net in July 1, 1997. Initially named Bigpond operated by Australian telco Telstra, Online played a significant role in the country's information communication and technology development by providing the first full public Internet access granted by the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications exclusive rights to operate as an ISP for a 5-year period of a 35-year licence.
2002 Cogetel acquired the business from Telstra marking the beginning of its ADSL service and its new brand name - ONLINE. Online has steadily introduced new products expanding the market's Internet experience. By year-end, there were a total of 30,000 Internet users in Cambodia (ITU). Not a very promising number; but Online stayed true to its commitment of bringing Cambodians closer to the world through the Internet this time as a 100% Cambodian-owned company.
2003-2005 Online continued with notable developments: WiFi service in cooperation with Alcatel, first hotspots in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, pre-paid Internet Cards (PIC). On one hand, AZ Communications also had 3Tel as its VoIP service provider.
2008 It was in July when the new identity was launched with the convergence of two major names 3Tel and Online. Still the market leader, Online re-affirms its place as the largest and finest customer-serving broadband Internet Service and VoIP provider in the country. Over the years, Online remains firm to its commitment of enabling people from all walks of life to be connected to the rest of the world. Supported by its core drive of keeping people in touch with the world, Online transforms and enriches everyday communications by bringing its customers closer to what matters to them most.
